So this is what the world has come to. We've moved from a society that speaks to each other to one that writes messages to each other and has them delivered; to one that calls one another on the phone, then e-mail, and now just post virtual messages to whomever wants to read it. Our need to communicate has moved to such a state of impersonality that we now don't even have a specific audience. Or you can look at it in the opposite vein. That we've moved to a point where we can now communicate and open up more than ever. We've removed the restrictions of society about what we say and now have the ability to speak freely and openly with no regard for consequences because there really isn't any. We can use a mask of anonymity to keep us in our daily lives from the reaction of the messages that we post. Truly our technology has allowed cowards to be heard as if they were brave men.
I don't expect this blog to be a continuous soapbox about the ways that life has changed, but when I sat to write my first message I was struck by the enormity of what I was doing. I don't mean the prior comments as an attack on any individual, for I think it applies to myself as much as any individual. I truly think that everyone would like the opportunity to be heard. That everyone thinks they've got insight or messages that they would like to share with the world. Unfortunately, every school only has one validectorian and the vast majority of us never get to make their coming out speech to the world.
If anybody ever finds this blog or finds any of what I say interesting then I hope you leave a response.
