The Big Fear
I voted yesterday!!! Early voting is the best thing ever. With out a doubt. It's like getting a sneak preview of something, or a backstage pass, or one of those passes that they sell at amusement parks that allow you to skip the lines. Awesome. I spent all of two minutes yesterday evening waiting in line to vote. This beats my previous best record for shortest time waiting in line to vote by about 1.63 hours. The relief is overwhelming. For once I've done my civic duty and wasn't terribly inconvenienced.
So now I sit and wait. The candidate I selected is comfortable ahead in the polls and if you ask the news agencies then all but FOX would tell you that he's already won. The underlying thing that I think most people wonder though is still there. Is it possible for a Black man to actually win the election?
Truthfully, I'm not sure.

thank you for voting, you now officially have my permission to bitch/moan/holler if your candidate doesn't win and things head (further) down the crapper.
(ny doesn't allow for early voting so i'll be slugging my way to the booth nov 4)
and god knows i hope so. the alternative is just too frightening.
Since I voted 10 days ago, I appreciate you once again following my example.
I'm for sure voting for Obama this weekend. I just have to figure out where I can do it.
In answer to your question, ogd, I hope so.
Heather - Sorry that you can't vote early. It's the bomb. All the cool kids are doing it. And Nate too.
Gyuss - 10 days ago there were lines. Now there aren't. I abhor lines.
Churlita - Finding the right spot to vote can be an issue. Nate? suggestions?
I keep saying they will come up with SOME reason to have to "recount" the votes...his chances may be slimmer than we think.
Churlita who is ogd? (Sorry, I couldn't resist!)
Tera: O Great Dagromm
Tera - I'm with you. Maybe I'm just paranoid, but I can't help but think that no matter what there is going to be some sort of controversy about the results.
Goo - Thank you for answering for me.
with any luck the 'controversy' will involve palin and mccain losing what's left of their minds from the shock of getting their asses handed to them in a woven grass basket and spending the remainder of the year in a lovely mental facility that is struggling to make ends meet thanks to the lousy health-care infrastructure in this country.
Well, I kind of like the idea that the mental facility would have a work-study type program to help the patients pay the cost of their care.
As for early voting, I wonder what happens in New York if an election judge is assigned to work outside their voting precinct. I held the position for 10 years in IL and never worked my precinct, so I had to vote early or not at all. Surely they make some sort of arrangements for that, if not for people who are planning to be out of the country, having surgery, etc.
Sorry Daggs, didn't mean to bring in a serious sort-of side discussion, but enquiring minds want to know. Well okay--nosey folk want to know!
I wish I could vote early.
"Vote early and often" is the motto on the state flag of Louisiana, I believe.
Heather - That would be awesome!
JAZ - I assume they get to be first in line on election day. That's just a guess with no research.
Nore - Don't worry I did it for you!
Chillax - I thought it was "I love LA".
Early voting rules. I was happy to see Texas as tight a race as it was.
