Dallas Cup Update
For the millions of fans of youth soccer out there I thought I would update everyone on the results of the Dallas Cup tournament that is currently going on. In the under 19 Super Group, which is the only one people really care about anyway the following teams have been eliminated: Eintracht Frankfurt (Germany), Blackburn Rovers FC (England), FC Groningen (Netherlands), Tigres (Mexico), Real Madrid CF (Spain), Consadole Sapporo (Japan), Deportiva Saprissa (Costa Rica), FC Delco Crunch (USA).
The semi-finals set for Friday are:
Dallas Texans Red (USA) v. CF Monterrey (Mexico)
Manchester United (England) v. Santos Laguna (Mexico)
I can't wait for the games on Friday, because I think they will both be very physical and the Mexican teams get a lot of suport here in Dallas. Man. U will also get a lot of fans so there should be some fun interaction. It's a shame, but probably the local team will have the fewest supporters. From the games I've watched so far the finals will most likely be Man U and Monterrey. Both are very talented with Man U having probably the best single player in the tournament and Monterrey having the most speed.
I have to shed a tear for Real Madrid as that was who I was cheering for, but in the two games I watched I felt they played soft and had defensive lapses that led to easy goals for the opposition.
