Scattershooting While Listening to My MP3 Player
I think if you were to try and encapsulate the average American's life in song it can be done by looking at the three most played songs on their Ipod. In this knowledge we would find keys to their personality and traits that made them unique as individuals. I also think that this would be a truer indicator than allowing somebody to pick what songs represented them, because I don't believe everyone would be honest with themselves. With that in mind these are the three most played songs in my MP3 player.
1. In 1984 the singer Sade cowrote and sang Smooth Operator. In her inherently sultry voice she croons the song that is equal parts sexy and political.
2. Smooth Criminal was originally relased in 1987 by Michael Jackson on the album Bad. The song inspired him to make the movie Moonwalker and subsequent video game.
3. Carlos Santana had a huge resurgence in 1999 with the release of his album Supernatural. On it, he collaborated with many artists for the differing tracks all with his unique sound. The biggest hit of the album was Smooth, his collaboration with Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20.
So that's my list. I'm not sure what it says about me, but it's probably pretty accurate.

According to my itunes, my three most played:
"Wanted Dead or Alive" the version done by Bon Jovi and Sugarland
"This Cowboys Hat" by Chris Ledoux
"You say it best.." by Allison Krause
and I am not ashamed!
Gyuss "This Cowboys Hat" might be one of the best songs ever, though not the best song on "Western Underground".
According to my iTunes my 3 most played songs are:
1. A Pirate Looks at Forty by Jack Johnson
2. Picture Me Rollin' (ft. Syke and C Bo) by 2Pac
3. When I'm Away From You by The Bellamy Brothers
The next 2 are Still Fly by The Big Tymers and Hurricane by Bob Dylan...
Oh and Dagromm I think it says that you are very, very gay.
Gyuss-You have no need to be ashamed, because I personally know that I'm a cowboy. On a steel horse I ride. And I'm wanted....dead or alive.
Q-reading your artist list in reverse order yours says that you like "Brothers" that "Pac" a "Johnson".
And to your second blogment- Nuh Uh.
I will give props for Smooth Criminal.
I hate how much I like that song.
Dagromm, looking at yours in reverse order I see matchbox, bad, and 1984. Pretty much how I envision the life of an HR guy who has a small office in an intrusive corporation.
I do like "Brothers" that "Pac" a "Johnson".
Though as of ten minutes ago number three on my list has changed from The Bellamy Brothers to Rich Boy, "Throw Some D's".
...had the colors flip flopped, candy red; lollipop...
I'll take "songs with smooth in the title" for 500, Alex.
What are...Dagromm's top three shuffle tunes...
"Only When I'm Drunk" Crazy Town and the Alkoholiks
"Where is My Mind" Pixies
"Sitting, Waiting, Wishing" Jack Johnson
Hi fringes-I hadn't noticed the smooth thing. Oh well, I am what I am.
Mist-I think those songs encapsulate you perfectly.
I thought that all of the "smooth" songs were to help you feel better about your inability to grow facial hair.
Oh, I've got facial hair. I just don't have a lot of ability to shave it anymore. I grew it back for safety's sake.
Oh, I totally dig that "Smooth Operator" song and I love Sade--her voice and her name (did I mention her looks?). It was always my wish that Mike Krzyzewski had named one of his daughters Sade.
No, I wouldn't stalk her. Not even thinking about it.
Hey Dixie- That's a bad ass thought. I want to say thanks for stopping by and taking the time to write Krzyzewski. That's tough to do.
Okay... I just looked at my ipod and my three most highly played songs have nothing in common. I mean... what can anyone make of:
Saturday Nights All Right by Elton John
It's a Kind of Magic by Queen
and Wake Me Up Before you Go Go by Wham
I mean... seriously... I don't think that... wait a minute... dear Holy Mary Mother of...
(passes out on the hearth)
