ABC Belittles the Sacrifices of US Troops

Yes my friends and fellow lovers of the American Way, I too was disgusted when I saw what ABC was doing. I don't know why they thought it was appropriate in this time of national emergency. Instead the so-called "American" Broadcast Company felt this was the right time to declare a Dance War between Bruno Tolioni and Carrie Ann Inaba. To compare the difficulties our troups are facing in Afghanistan and Iraq to the competition between Inaba (who speaks Japanese!!!) and Tonioli (an admitted non-American) is at the very least an insult to our troops and in fact an insult to all Americans.

I think it's safe to say that most U.S. Americans know better than to believe that our troops are overseas in the Iraq doing highly stylized choreography while the Al-Queda Nazis respond with their own flurry of shuffle, step, shuffle, step, smile, and turn. I expect the outrage is building to this insinuation and very soon ABC will be shut down by the public outcry. Until that time I will instead have to watch good American programming like Gossip Girl and the new Knight Rider.

TV has to look at ways of creating drama without using those pesky writers. Pretty soon all we'll be able to watch are American Gladiator, American Idol and dancing shows.

It just struck me that as little as three years ago, we would have crucified them for this and today it's ok. Does anyone remember when Kellen Winslow Jr. (football player for the Cleveland Browns)was torn a new one saying that he was a soldier??? I don't really care about the name of the show. I just find it interesting how quickly public opinion changes.

Cop Rock. Bring back Cop Rock! Steven Bochco's failed marriage of rock'n'roll and the gritty life of police officers working the mean streets.

Can Dance War even hope to compete with that sort of classic programming? Or, does it herald a new audience for a show that's already gone down the tubes once.

Plus, since those scripts have already been written can't we go straight into production?

i am sick to death of reality tv. what an incredible lack of imagination they show.
3 years of hearing the word war on a daily basis tends to numb a person. it's a sad fact.

Goo - I think rock n roll and police work are the leading causes of failed marriages.

Heather - I've half seen two episodes of this and I still don't get what it's about. It's called Dance War, but people are eliminated for not being good singers. And what's the real prize here? They might get to be an extra when ever Bruno Tonioli choreographs Ella Enchanted 2? He choreographed Ella Enchanted for those who didn't know, which is probably everybody.
This show is awful, awful, awful.

I think it has to do with numbing.
