It's been a little while and a few things have been rolling around in my brain to mention. The first one is this news story that I saw a while back. I didn't notice a whole lot of talk on the subject, but I found it somewhat amusing. For some reason I find myself taking the Little Miss Sunshine approach to this story. I wish they would have just gotten an autograph and then let her go on her way. Maybe take a picture with her lighting up or something.

The girl and I have spent most of our free time at the Dallas Cup watching soccer. She's been excited to watch the Liverpool U-19's from England play since she plays for a local Liverpool Academy team. She wears her Liverpool shirt to games and cheers very loudly. We've made friends with some other supporters of the team and sit with them at the games. The girl has been working on te lyrics for "You'll Never Walk Alone" which is their unofficial theme song and even persuaded me to get her a Liverpool F.C. flag. Last night we went to the semifinals and watched them play against Benfica from Portugal. My daughter's impression after the game was that the Portuguese were all a bunch of cheats and fakers, so it's a been a learning experience for her. Liverpool came out on top scoring in the last two minutes of regulation to take home a 2-1 victory and secure a spot in the Finals against Tigres (Mexico).

After the game, we stuck around and the girl got her flag autographed by the Liverpool players. They were all very nice and took the time to sign things and take pictures. They have a few stud players that I'm sure will be playing with somebody's first team before long.

Oyster particularly liked the video in the previous post. She thinks the skater looks like her dad.

And it sounds like you and "the girl" are having a lot of fun together with the soccer. Way to be a great dad!

Oyster adds:

I want to know how to get a little picture, get a website like you, and can I be member like jaz?

Jaz - I'm glad that Oyster liked the video. That's why I do this blog, to help keep kids off the street.

Heather - Daddy/daughter days are fun. She's pretty good company most of the time.

So you're taking the girl-child out to assess studs so soon? Well, I guess the vetting process can never really begin to early.

Goo, We don't have to worry about that until "the girl" notes that there are studs on the team. She only seemed concerned with cheats and fakers. Her head seems to be screwed on right.

They must have been really mellow on that show. As I recall, Bob Denver also got busted for having weed at one point too.

I think it is awesome how you're raising you're little girl to be a soccer hooligan.

From appearances one would guess we are raising Oyster on daily hockey games. She is currently missing both upper front teeth and the two lower ones are (finally) growing in--but very crooked. So, is soccer the secret to pretty teeth? Oyster has commented that her cousin's teeth are pretty.

Churlita--wasn't the whole cast pretty mellow--except Tina Louise? Maybe they wouldn't share with her.

Goo - You can stop right now.

Lit - You can stop right now too.

Churlita - I believe that it's fairly common on those tropical islands.

Gus - They're called Liverpooligans.

Jaz -Don't worry, mine has braces in her future as well.

Aren't you working for a dental practice now? Doesn't that me you get some sort of mega discount on procedures?

Don't you just love those father-daughter moments? :-)

Tera--I would be willing to bet that dates with the dentist are going to be mother-daughter moments. Mother-son moments, too.

Why didn't I get an invite? Was it because the last time I went to a soccer match I embarassed you by asking one of the players to sign my bare ass? Admit it! That's the reason!

cyber d, I am sure you were invited. My invitation indicated you would be there. It must have gotten lost in the mail.

Oh--and Oyster has been trying to reproduce your artwork at her daddy's store. Remember the pic you drew of Daggs? That's the one.
