What's Dagromm Listening To???

That's the question I know that is on everyone's mind. Being on the forefront of of the music industry and pop culture like I am you get used to hearing questions like this. People want to know "what is cool" and they know where to find it. Me.

So this is what has been ringing around my ears lately.

The Ting Tings
I've been semi-obsessed with them for a month or more now. I love the way this song builds and I'm crushing on the lead singer.

The Blue Hearts
Rock and roll baby!! This group amps up some punk furiosity and I dig it. And yes furiosity is a word. I just created it. Feel free to spread your own furiosity at your discretion.

Katy Perry
This is my daughter's favorite video right now and so gets played through the Dagromm household quite a bit. I know that many others also love Katy Perry, so I'm just here to tell you that it's ok.

I thought it was cool to discover in the Katie Couric-Katy Perry interview that those are Katy's full-on snake-handling, speaking-in-tongues Pentecostal preaching parents featured in the wedding scene. It's good to see that kind of family love and support.

Well, I don't have the esoteric bits of info that Goo does (which I fully appreciate); I just have my usual pedantic suggestions to make:

The young lady in the Ting Tings obviously needs to wear a name tag.

The Blue Hearts appear to need to follow their baths with regular flea dips, particularly the lead singer who has serious scratching problems. It should solve their furiosity outbreaks. Of course, that might end their careers as well. Greed or comfort? That is the question.

The Katy Perry video is on your list right now because of the guy in the frankfurter suit which takes you back to the day of your severance from your former employer. The video then has a supposedly happy ending, and that's your desire for your life. This session is over; you may get up off the couch.

BTW how did you and Goo wind up with such different musical tastes? Got my fingers crossed for you.

Good call on The Ting Tings. You need to set up a last.fm account so that we can keep up with all of your musical discoveries. I'm on there as excaliburccg. Click tags and type in italo disco. I guarantee you'll kill an afternoon.

Goo - I had heard that they are a very religious family and didn't care for her last single, but it's good to see that they still support her. Especially now that she's making it big.

Lit - I feel so much better now. Very cathartic. Thank you.

Chillax - I'll check it out. I have a Jango account, but I'll see if I like Last FM more better.

For those that are curious I present the lyrics to Linda Linda by the Blue Hearts. First the phonetic lyrics in Japanese and then the English translation.

Linda Linda

Do-bun ne zu-ni Mita-ini
Utsukushiku nari-tai
Sya-shi-n-niwa utsuranai
Utsuku-shisa-ga aru-kara

Linda Linda (X2)

*Moshi-mo Boku-ga itsuka
Kimi-to deai hanshi aunara
Sonna tokiwa do-ka Ai no
Imi-(w)o Shit-te kuda-sai

Linda Linda

Do-bun ne zu-ni Mita-ini
Dare-yorimo yasa-shii
Do-bun ne zu-ni Mita-ini
Na-niyouimo Ata-ta-kaku

Linda Linda

*Moshi-mo Boku-ga itsuka
Kimi-to deai hanshi aunara
Sonna tokiwa do-ka Ai no
Imi-(w)o Shit-te kuda-sai

Aija na-kutemo Koja na-kutemo
Kimi-(w)o hanashi-wa-shi-na-i
Keshite makenai
Tsuyoi chikara-(w)o
Boku-wa hito-su-dake motsu

Linda Linda

I wanna be beautiful like a sewer rat
He's got beauty you can't see in a picture

Linda Linda

*If I see you and have a talk
Please catch the meaning of love

Linda Linda

Just like a sewer rat, nicer than anyone else
Just like a sewer rat, warmer than anyone else

Linda Linda

*If I see you and have a talk
Please catch the meaning of love

Even though it may not be love, I'll never leave you
I'll get power, the only power nothing can beat

Linda Linda

Oh, those sentimental Japanese.

My daughters love the Ting Tings. I like them better than Katy Perry right now. I'm a little burnt-out on her right now. Too much overplay.

In retrospect, you should have posted Linda Linda ahead of Ting Tings. That way the angsty young woman in need of a name tag has a little more context. Linda Linda. Ting Ting. That's not my name. Katy Perry. That's not my name. Linda Linda. Sewer rat. Ting Ting. That's not my name. You blow hot and cold.

Gawd, now I'm just spiraling out of control.

PS That's not my name.

Lit - You said it. The comparison reminds me of Shakespeare. Shall I compare thee to a sewer rat? Thou art more lovely and more temperate.

Churlita - You are totally right as well. I was sick of this song being killed by the radio, but then I saw the video and liked it all over again.

Goo - Don't disparage my choices on my blog or you will be banned.

Sewer rats are indeed sexy.
I really need to join Last.fm
You have a job yet?

Now that you have told him sewer rats are sexy he has another avenue to explore in the job market.

Pam - Thanks for the follow up. Nope. No job yet. Want to help out with that?

JAZ - ?

Everyone - I just wrote a brilliant post that either Blogger or my computer ate. IT will not be recreated. I am too heart broken.

I understand your disillusionment with Blogger.com, computers, or the internet in general. Suddenly there is a message across the top of every blog I follow that I have labeled it as containing questionable material---including Tazzonater's and my own, two seriously innocent blogs. Where did that come from? I didn't do it!!! I promise you.

Do you think Jaz is suggesting you become a big sewer rat hunter?
